Role Overview:
Our client is currently looking for an exceptionally skilled Studio Design Director to join their team.


The successful candidate will be part of an experienced and successful team, so will need to be a very talented designer and a strong team player with great coaching skills. You will work closely with our Studio General Manager and global design leadership to continuously improve the quality and efficiency of our creative capabilities.

You are passionate about games and able to work in a flexible and fluid environment where the job will evolve over time. You are the go-to expert in your discipline and partner with the Studio General Manager on all matters relating to creative content and the studio design roadmap.

Support game designers throughout the game development process from pitch through to live ops by providing feedback, insight, and solutions to design challenges
Oversee all designer recruitment, training, development & resource allocation
Represent the studio within the global Design community
Bring industry knowledge of best practice to the teams


Able to demonstrate a deep understanding/awareness of the design challenges associated with casual, Free to play, and mobile games
A breadth of experience across multiple genres, platforms, and styles
Have a track record of taking games all the way from concept development through to delivery
Good communication and organizational skills, preferably with experience working in an agile project environment
Experience of leading, developing, coaching and mentoring designers
Know how to excite and motivate a team
Experience and feel confident giving constructive feedback
Detailed knowledge of the games market and current consumer expectations

Bonus skills:

Experience of designing multiplayer games and game reward systems
Capable of balancing complex game-systems
Skilled at using mathematical models and tools to analyse game play and user behaviour
Know and use scripting languages
Experience of growing a team and recruitment processes
Direct line management experience
