Role Overview:

This studio is searching for an Audio Designer with both the talent, and experience required to work on one of their exciting new ‘AAA’ game projects. You will collaborate closely with your fellow team members, and use your knowledge of audio design to realise a creative vision and audio soundscape for the game that is a standout in its field. Responsibilities will include leading and managing the development of Audio heavy features for the game; optimising the way sound is executed, with a goal of setting a new standard for video game audio. This role requires an exemplary track record on at least two highly regarded current-generation game titles.

This role can be Permanent or on a Fixed-Term Contract basis.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work with the Audio Lead and Project Team Leads to define and realise the audio vision of the game
• Set benchmarks for sound design quality for both internal and external teams, ensuring playback is as intended and fit for commercial release
• Create prototypes and sound intentions proving audio setups and technical choices while identifying needs
• Create sound effects and audio assets using pre-recorded material or methods like synthesis, recording, Foley recording etc.
• Create, define and maintain workflows, structures, documentation and organisation of all content relating to audio tools, workflows, guidelines & best practices
• Work with the Lead Audio Programmer to explore technology research & development, and define audio software, hardware & tools requirements
• Work with programmers and designers to ensure top quality audio content is delivered within game design requirements, technical limitations and on schedule
• Create briefs for 3rd party audio suppliers such as sample providers, V/O & external audio production
• Experience of recording, integrating and mixing audio for game projects
• Expert knowledge in technical limitations (sound optimization, memory etc.) related to audio formats used in video games
• Good knowledge of Sound Effect libraries on the market
• A controlled approach to planning and delivery of game audio
• Good at working with direction on your own and/or in a team
• Ability to communicate, identify and resolve challenges involved in cross discipline game requirements
• Ability to respond elegantly to difficult creative changes, often late in the process
• Great communications skills and self-motivated towards solving creative problems and technical challenges
• Positive and outgoing personality
• Passionate & enthusiastic about video games & game audio, with a good understanding of the competitive landscape within the industry
• Enjoy working as part of a team, creative, good analytical and deductive capacities, thorough, and good interpersonal and organizational skills
• A strong musical background: degree in Audio / Sound Design or Production preferred
