Artificial Mind & Movement is seeking a dynamic leader with experience directing a team of creative individuals. The selected candidate will have demonstrated the ability to lead the design and creative vision of multiple simultaneous projects as well as the ability to collaborate with multi-faceted teams of game designers, artists and programmers to build compelling entertainment products.
Specifically for Games, the Creative Director bears the responsibility of the quality of each individual project under his supervision. He is not only a coach and advisor to the team, but the actual owner of each project. He is also directly in charge of all members of the design department.
Responsibilities
Assume responsibility for the quality while mindful of timelines of all creative tasks within the Games Studio
Design compelling games for licenses or sequels to proven franchises
Develop new intellectual properties that take into account the most recent market trends
Create, review and provide feedback for new game concepts from initial pitch phase to detailed design documentation
Define & design proof of concepts for new game ideas, whether on paper or functional
Provide constructive criticism to staff by identifying potential improvements and offering suggestions
Demonstrate on-the-floor leadership by constantly reviewing game builds and providing constructive feedback
Mentor and train the creative staff within the Games Studio
Maintain and keep current on industry knowledge of competitive games, successful genres, and innovative game mechanics
Maintain awareness of consumer demographics and psychographics within the Downloadable Games Market
Identify franchise and brand extension opportunities
Communicate complex creative ideas to a wide and varied audience, from Executives to technical staff
Work with other Creative Directors to grow the creative departments within the company
Ensure that the Games Studio Head is aware of the direction and priorities of the design team
Hire new staff in line with company requirements
Requirements
Recognized by peers as being passionate about games and other entertainment industries
Must showcase strengths in imagination and creativity
5+ years of experience in the interactive entertainment industry in a leadership role with proven success in previous creative endeavors
A thorough understanding of the game development process from initial concept to ship including theoretical design in the areas of prototyping, mechanics, pacing, usability, level ramp, story, meta-structure, aesthetics, and creative vision
Knowledgeable with regard to the advantages and shortcomings of current game consoles such as the PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, PSP and DS
Experience overseeing multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to recognize the strengths and weakness of staff
Ability to effectively pitch game concepts in writing, verbally or live
Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate appropriately
** Speaking Spanish is an asset
